Senator A.B. Swindell to Tour Charter School in Rocky Mount
Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina (PEFNC) is hosting state Senator A.B. Swindell (D) at Rocky Mount Preparatory School tomorrow. The visit is part of a series of statewide legislative tours designed to educate policymakers and highlight the successes of public charter schools.
The tour comes just one month after the state submitted its application for federal Race to the Top funds. In light of North Carolina's ranking--32nd of 40 states--by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, the tour also will demonstrate the need for more competitive, innovative charter laws.
