Overwhelming Support for Special Needs Educational Tax

Joined by a bipartisan group of state policy makers, Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina (PEFNC) released the results from a poll about special needs education in North Carolina on Tuesday. The poll, which indicated an overwhelming 82 percent of parents with school-aged children are in support of scholarships for special needs children, was conducted by Public Policy Polling and commissioned by PEFNC. PEFNC Announces New Director of Communications

Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina (PEFNC) is pleased to announce that Traci Brown has been promoted to the position of Director of Communications. Ms. Brown will develop and manage the organization’s communications program by coordinating and serving as a primary contact for public and media relations.

Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina (PEFNC) recently had the privilege of attending an annual appreciation program hosted by Upper Room Christian Academy in Raleigh. Sponsored by the People’s Community Foundation, the celebration included student choral performances, a tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and a presentation by keynote speaker Mr. Martin Luther King, III.

Our recently commissioned dropout study made headlines across North Carolina resonating into 2008. Public awareness of the $169 million price tag attached to our abysmal dropout rate should lead to serious discussion regarding educational reform in the year ahead. PEFNC is ready to enter this discussion on behalf of the families and children in this great state.
