One Size Does Not Fit All
With the expansion of a Montessori program in Mecklenburg County, a statewide push for more early college high schools, and Raleigh Charter High School’s ranking in the Top 20 high schools in the nation, alternative frameworks for k-12 education obviously are increasingly popular to first-rate results.
Unfortunately, one current choice in public education may be altered in the near future. Some magnet school programs, such as those in Wake County, could be reduced.
Hopefully, school boards will recognize that one size does not fit all when it comes to education. Conventional schools and innovative educational models should not be pitted against each other, but should work collaboratively to serve North Carolina's children according to their needs.
