Putting Parents in Charge!

Nationwide, parents are waging the fight for more educational options for their children. Here in North Carolina, there has been a spike in private school enrollment and the charter school waiting list is up to 15,000 families.  Clearly, more and more North Carolinians consider education to be a top issue in the state.  Now is the time for us all to find out how we can make a difference!

Beginning Monday, September 14, we're hosting a public speaking tour entitled "Putting Parents in Charge."  The tour, which is free of charge at all locations and open to the public, will feature state and national education reform leaders as well as parents who are seeking K-12 options for their children.

Today's event on the State Capitol grounds in Raleigh will mark the first stop of a three-city tour, which will continue in Asheville on Tuesday, September 15, and conclude in Charlotte on Wednesday, September 16.  Virginia Walden Ford, the keynote speaker, is best known for successfully leading a coalition of parents and community leaders to pass the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which has helped more than 1,700 children, obtain a quality education.  Join us this week to learn how to bring similar change to our state!

What a terrific opportunity for others to join in a very, very worthy cause! Parents SHOULD have options for their child's education. Government should not dictate how a parent should educate their child.
