Who's in control, Part 2

As part of an investigative series on stimulus spending, ABC News Channel 11 examines the tens of millions in federal funding that may be lost if pending charter school legislation fails to move forward in the state Senate.

The report implicates education lobbyists, long opposed to public charter schools, for stalling the bill.  The lobbyists don’t do much to refute that implication. In a revealing sound bite, an NCAE lobbyist unabashedly boasts that the group's perceived power is “a good thing for education reform.”

Really? True educational reform in North Carolina has been repeatedly stalled by groups like the NCAE, which claim to represent the best interests of children while routinely sacrificing those children to a a one-size-fits-all system.

No, that kind of power is not “a good thing.”  Not for educational reform, and certainly not for families in North Carolina.
