Greensboro News & Record calls for charter cap increase

Connecting the dots between the U.S. Dept. of Education's Race to the Top initiative and pending legislation in the North Carolina General Assembly, the editorial board of The Greensboro News & Record is calling for the state to lift its cap on public charter schools.  Here's an excerpt:

"An inflexible cap...denies the opportunity for excellence if a proposal for a potentially outstanding new charter school is rejected simply because the cap already has been reached. A Race to the Cap isn't the same as a Race to the Top."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves.  Oh, wait...

All joking aside, it's encouraging to see other outlets giving this issue the attention it deserves.  Here's hoping North Carolina policy makers are reading the local Opinion pages.
