NC Beats National Trend

New figures by the NC Division of Non-Public Education show that North Carolina's private schools are enjoying record enrollment in the 2008-2009 school year. The latest enrollment figure of 98,545 is a gain of 1% over the previous school year. This number does not include homeschools which, as we reported previously, are also on the rise.

North Carolina's private schools are bucking a nationwide trend. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, private school enrollment has fallen 1% from 2001-2007. While stories of struggling private schools have been a common tale during these tough economic times, North Carolina's parents are proving that they are committed to educational options for their children.
